Catalunya is the single biggest wine producing province in Spain, if you drive the 200 km’s from Barcelona to the south most part of the province you pass through 7 different DO’s including the prolific Penede, Cava regions and the world famous DOC Priorat. In Spain there are 120 Denominations of Origin (recognised as good or unique wine growing regions), but only 3 DOC’s (DO Calificada), awarded to regions that have the potential to make wines of exceptional quality, the Priorat is one of these 3. Wine tasting evenings – minimum 4 people Enjoy a relaxed, fun and informal presentation at a location of your choice of 5 classic wines from the 3 distinct Catalan regions Terra Alta, Montsant, Priorat, covering whites, rose and reds. 1 Basics of wine tasting and how to taste 2 Introduction to the different regions and the wines 3 Taste the difference! Wine Tours (minimum 3 people) Half Day Visit one of the best local producers, guided tour of the Bodega and sample the wines. Full Day – (Week days only) Morning – Visit the unique and stunning Priorat region including a guided tour of one of the top producers. Lunch – 3 or 4 course meal, (including wine and water) choice of typical Spanish and Catalan dishes in a lovely local restaurant, (fish eating vegetarians will be fine, Vegans are going to struggle, sorry Spain doesn’t get it!) Afternoon – Visit and tour to one of the best village Co-operatives. Co-ops are important and symbolic to Catalunya and can be great places to find excellent inexpensive wines, olive oils and other local produce. Note: Important you´re not driving!
